May 2018

Quarter note and eighth note patterns can be tricky for our young singers. Inspired by the funny internet memes, my introductory vocal class kids and my favorite student, Cole, helped me create this fun sheet to help with rhythm reading and keeping a steady beat.

Food Rhythms

Teaching Tip: Ask your students to notate/clap and count their favorite foods!
Clap a Meal - Have students pick THREE favorite foods and then clap the rhythms while keeping a steady beat.
Think Quick! Teacher points to food at random and student has to clap the rhythm. Have students be the teacher and point to foods for you to clap!

April 2018

This download is from our friend and colleague - Nate Plummer. Nate is an incredible singing and acting coach at www.stagedoorunlocked.com  Nate is a superhero in musical theatre repertoire for kids. He is extremely passionate about finding the perfect age-appropriate song for each student. He knows all about the repertoire challenges in our teaching studios!

"As a teacher, I know how hard it can be to find a song that not only fits for the current technique needs you are trying to teach in the studio but also finding a song that students can connect to so that their performance can be truly genuine and honest."

Nate has shared a 40 song list, organized by gender, age and style from his Musical Theatre Audition Favorites for Kids! Resource. He has also kindly offered a 20% discount to all FULL VOICE Teachers who are interested in his complete repertoire download.
